Information for fly fishing Bronte Creek in Southern Ontario. Bronte creek has a diverse population of fish species. Bass inhabit the lower sections year round, while the upper reaches are brook trout and brown trout territory. The real fun begins in the fall and lasts all winter through spring when steelhead rainbow trout, brown trout and various species of pacific salmon make their way upstream from lake Ontario to spawn.

The lower reaches of Bronte Creek are a haven for Steelhead and Salmon fly fishing through late fall and early winter as well as in the spring season when the river opens for the regular season. Bronte Creek has an extended fall season for Rainbow and Brown trout. Refer to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Fishing Regulations summary for detailed information about open and closed seasons as well as certain areas of this river that are closed to fishing year round. Beyond the excellent steelhead and salmon fishery that Bronte Creek offers, there are also great opportunities to fly fish for Smallmouth Bass. Smallmouth Bass occur mainly in the lower stretches of the river and are found in some of the deeper runs and pools found along the river. |
