Bronte Creek is a river in southern Ontario that flows from the Niagara Escarpment to empty into Lake Ontario at Bronte Harbour in Oakville/Burlington, Ontario. The river is also known as Twelve Mile Creek. At its headwaters, Bronte Creek is a cold water stream with a healthy brook trout and brown trout population. The creek flows mainly through private land at its beginnings, and access is very limited. Be sure to seek landowner permission before entering private property. Lower reaches for the most part are easily accessible as the river flows through populated areas where the main access is through park land.

Bronte creek sees its humble start near Morriston, Ontario. From here, the creek winds its way through Carlisle. In these upper reaches, the main ground water source, Maddoch Springs contributes the most significant amounts of cold water to the Bronte creek headwaters ecosystem.

The lower reaches of Bronte Creek are a haven for Steelhead and Salmon fly fishing through late fall and early winter as well as in the spring season when the river opens for the regular season. Bronte Creek has an extended fall season for Rainbow and Brown trout. Refer to the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources Fishing Regulations summary for detailed information about open and closed seasons as well as certain areas of this river that are closed to fishing year round.

Beyond the excellent steelhead and salmon fishery that Bronte Creek offers, there are also great opportunities to fly fish for Smallmouth Bass. Smallmouth Bass occur mainly in the lower stretches of the river and are found in some of the deeper runs and pools found along the river.
